Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo has announced his final three transition teams: Health & Education; Transportation & Infrastructure; and State and Local Government Reform.

The members of the health committee include Ken Raske of the Greater New York Hospital Association and Daniel Sisto of the Healthcare Association of NYS, but no one from 1199 SEIU –  yet another signal the Cuomo administration is preparing to do battle with the healthcare workers union next year.

The education committee includes University at Buffalo President John Simpson, who announced after the failure of the UB 2020/SUNY empowerment plan push this past summer that he will retire as of Jan. 15.

Dr. Gerald Benjamin,  state government expert, SUNY New Paltz dean and father to our very own Liz Benjamin, has been named to the state and local government reform committee.

He’s joined by former Democratic Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi who chaired the state  Commission on Property Tax Relief (tapped by his 2006 primary rival, then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer) and Republican Onodaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney, who is also co-chairing Cuomo’s transition team.

Also of note:  Gaston Caperton, president of the College Board and boss of Peter Kauffmann, former communications director to Gov. David Paterson, who took a leave from his private sector post to work on Cuomo’s campaign.

There are also a number of state lawmakers on Cuomo’s transition committees, despite the fact that the governor-elect criticized the Legislature and Albany (writ large) during the campaign. The governor-elect has announced the members of seven transition committees to date.

The complete list of the final three committees appears after the jump.

Cuomo is also unveiling a new Website where individuals interested in working for the administration can apply for jobs. (The address is:; which I can’t access for some reason).
