ICYMI from last night, here’s the lightning round segment of the Republican primary US Senate debate.

Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, Rep. Bob Turner and attorney Wendy Long all agreed that Ed Cox has been done a good job as the leader of the New York Republican Party.

None of the candidates wanted to say whether they believed Ronald Reagan was the very best president in American history, and all said they had participated in a political demonstration at one point in their lives.

But they were split on whether Puerto Rico should become a state (Maragos said “yes” if residents there wanted it so; Turner and Long said no), while only Long said she had never voted for a Democrat.

Turner said he would “probably not” turn over an illegal immigrant working in his home to ICE. Long was the only candidate to say she would not attend a same-sex wedding on principle.
