EXCITING NEWS!

House Speaker John Boehner is traveling to Lake George on Aug. 3 to lend his support to Matt!

The Speaker’s trip up to NY-21 speaks volumes about the importance of this campaign and it shows how critical our race is in building a strong majority in the House.

We all know Matt has what it takes to win this fall and Speaker Boehner has shown he does too. Now we need your help.

The reception will be held at The Inn at Erlowest, 3178 Lake Shore Drive, Lake George on Friday, August 3. Tickets start at $150 per person and $250 per couple. Please call Meghan Deltry at (518) 281-6812 or e-mail her at Meghan.Deltry@gmail.com for more information or to RSVP.

This is not entirely unexpected.

Boehner and other top Republican leaders are expected to make appearances in battleground districts across the country, which include at least a dozen here in New York (unlike state legislative districts, House seats were redrawn by a court, making them yet again quite competitive).

Boehner already has headlined a June 22 fundraiser for Rep. Nan Hayworth, a freshman Republican running in a Hudson Valley swing district.

Doheny is running in the one of the most heavily Republican districts in New York, a seat that’s currently held by Rep. Bill Owens.

Officials at the NRCC said in June they expect Boehner to be deployed to key districts in order to raise cash and drum up support.

Here’s what NRCC Executive Director Guy Harrison told state reporters in a conference call a day after the June 26 primary:

“I anticipate you will see a host of good surrogates going through there,” Harrison said on the call, noting that it is difficult to get high-profile surrogates to deep blue states like New York or California, which are not in play nationally. “John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Pete Sessions will be going through New York on a regular basis.”
