Lt. Gov. Bob Duffy’s penchant for superlatives extends beyond his boss Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

In fact, Duffy says Chobani yogurt is “the best Greek yogurt in the country.”

Duffy was at the ribbon-cutting ceremony in New York City today for a Chobani yogurt bar (how hipster is that?!) and praised founder Hamdi Ulukaya for helping to invigorate the upstate economy with his Greek yogurt plant in New Berlin.

“I’m not saying this to put on. I eat Chobani yogurt every day and had my yogurt this morning,” Duffy said. “I’m a big fan, a big customer. It really is the best Greek yogurt in the country.”

Chobani has indeed one of the biggest market shares of the Greek yogurt market in the United States and this year is a sponsor of the US Olympic team.

The Cuomo administration overall has been working to highlight New York’s increasing dominance in Greek yogurt.

The Empire State Development Corp.’s Let NY Work commercials (you may have seen those from time to time) highlights another yogurt company, Fage, based in Jamestown.

Later in a Q and A, Duffy said he prefers vanilla yogurt.
