That Sen. Dan Squadron is considering a run for New York City public advocate is no secret.

A reader forwarded over a fundraising appeal blasted out by Squadron’s campaign for the effort.

Still, he doesn’t exactly telegraph what he’s raising for until the second paragraph, when he notes the New York City fundraising regulations.

“Your contribution means a lot. New York City’s campaign finance program matches donations of $175 or less from NYC residents 6 to 1 – which means your $50 donation means $300 for the campaign. Remember, Daniel doesn’t accept PAC or corporate contributions, so he needs grassroots support from people like you,” he writes.

Current Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is expected to make a run for mayor in 2013.
