A reader forwarded this bootleg copy of a TV ad running in the 22nd congressional district in support of Republican Rep. Richard Hanna.

The spot calls the freshman lawmaker a “leader in protecting Medicare payments to hospitals, ensuring seniors get the quality care they have earned.” It also lauds him for working to “create good jobs and protect health care throughout rural New York.”

FEC filings show the American Hospital Association PAC, which paid for the ad, spent $11,290 on production and $245,800 on air time to assist Hanna late last month. Hanna is facing a challenge from Democrat Dan Lamb, a former top aide to retiring Rep. Maurice Hinchey.

And he’s not the only New York Republican benefitting from the PAC’s largesse.

The AHA dropped $11,968 on production and $211,960 on air time to help Hanna’s House GOP colleague, Rep. Tom Reed, in NY-23. Reed is being challenged by Democratic Tompkins County Legislator Nate Shinagawa.

The AHA is also spending to assist Republican incumbents in Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Washington state.
