You knew this was coming. Bernard Tolbert, who is challenging Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown in the Sept. 10 Democratic primary, turned President Obama’s mix-up of Brown and Rep. Brian Higgins during Day One of his upstate tour into an ad.

Obama quickly corrected himself after the crowd pointed out his mistake, but the damage was already done. Brown laughed off the president’s error, and Higgins (who, unlike the mayor, isn’t up for re-election until next year) tweeted later in the day that he didn’t care who Obama mixed him up with, as long as it wasn’t the soon-to-be-former, scandal-scarred mayor of San Diego.
