Gov. Andrew Cuomo rasied more than $7 million in the last six months of 2013, giving him a $33.3 million war chest ahead of his 2014 re-election campaign.

Cuomo’s re-election campaign announced the totals on Wednesday as campaign finance reports for elected officials come due before the state Board of Elections.

Cuomo began the filing period with $27.8 million in the bank.

It was a fundraising period for Cuomo that included many big-dollar events, including a birthday party bash for the governor at Roseland Ballroom featuring performer and friend-of-the-governor Billy Joel.

The big haul comes as Cuomo and advocates are also pushing for the public financing of political campaigns that would restrict much of the large-dollar donations for candidates that opt in to the program.
