Western New York Democrat Dennis Gabryszak sent a letter officially resigning on Jan. 13 at midnight, according to a letter received and released by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s office today.

Gabryszak is accused of sexually harassing multiple women who worked in his office and for the state Legislature and announced in a news conference on Sunday he would “retire” from the chamber following pressure from Silver and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The Joint Commission on Public Ethics is launching an investigation of Gabryszak’s behavior while the outcome of a Legislative Ethics Committee investigation is yet to be determined.
