Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos has nearly $2.3 million in cash on hand after a fundraising period in which he received $231,636 in contributions, his campaign finance report filed today shows.

Skelos, who shares power with Senate IDC Leader Jeff Klein and the title of Senate co-president, began the six-month fundraising period with $2,275,163 in the bank.

The campaign spent $211,415 during this time.

The money, of course, can be used to aid fellow Republican candidates in what could be another closely contested battle for control of the Senate.

Records show Skelos spread some of his money around at the end of 2013, with two $5,000 checks cut to Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s successful re-election campaign in October.

Skelos also donated $5,000 to the state Republican Party, the filing shows.
