As the Working Families Party considers alternatives to incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a campaign website for Zephyr Teachout has launched.

The website,, describes the Fordham University Law professor as the “Working Families Party candidate for governor” and includes a biographical section as well as an area for news updates and volunteering for the campaign.

“I’m running because New Yorkers need an economy and democracy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected,” the website’s home page says.

WFP activists are leaning toward Teachout as Diane Ravitch, a public schools advocate, wrote in a blog post on Thursday evening she would not be a candidate.

Teachout, a former organizer for Howard Dean’s presidential candidate, would be the first independent candidate the WFP has run in its history.
