Republican congressional candidate Elise Stefanik on Thursday released the first TV ad of her campaign, a 30-second spot that highlights her family’s small business background.

Stefanik appears in the ad herself, talking with voters about her pledge to focus on job creation in Congress.

“We feel first-hand the economic challenges facing small businesses,” Stefanik says in the ad. “We need to get rid of the regulations that are strangling our small businesses.”

Stefanik is running in the sprawling NY-21, the North Country congressional seat that is being vacated by Democratic Rep. Bill Owens.

She faces Matt Doheny in a GOP primary in June.
