For Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the town assessor is the one who knocks.

That’s according to Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rob Astorino, who in an online video released Monday morning slammed Cuomo for the ongoing kerfuffle over whether the home the governor shares with Food Network star Sandra Lee has been properly assessed.

Astorino, the Westchester County executive, has been seizing on a series of stories from The Journal News, which reported the home owned by Lee has undergone renovations, but an assessor wasn’t allowed inside to view the changes.

Cuomo recently told reporters that the assessor had been to the house, and wasn’t aware what the requirements were to obtain a valuation of the property.

Astorino in the web video said the situation has broader implications and called on Cuomo to “let the inspector in.”

“New Yorkers are sick of two sets of rules, one for Albany politicians and one for them. You and I are paying our fair share of taxes, and it’s breaking our backs. Why hasn’t Governor Cuomo been paying his? Open the door, Governor Cuomo. Let the inspector in. I thought you were going to bring transparency to this state,” he says.

The Cuomo campaign has hit back at Astorino’s attacks, noting that Westchester under his watch continues to have the highest property taxes in the nation.
