After getting the Karl Rove treatment, Republican congressional hopeful Matt Doheny has a response.

A 30-second TV ad released on Friday pushes back against the ad released earlier this week by American Crossroads, the super PAC founded by the former Bush advisor that has taken the unusual step of becoming involved in a Republican House primary.

The ad essentially threw the kitchen sink at Doheny, pointing to a slew of past transgressions ranging from drunken boating charges to rent payments.

Doheny faces Elise Stefanik in a Republican primary on June 24 for the NY-21 congressional district, which encompasses most of the state’s North Country region.

“The financiers controlling DC Insider Elise Stefanik are lying,” the ad’s narrator says. “The truth? The Adirondack Daily Enterprise calls Stefanik “the definition of Washington insider” saying “she is NOT a small businesswoman.”

The ad features a radio report noting that Stefanik’s family’s only tie to the area is a “seasonal home” in Wilsboro.

“Elise’s REAL home is in DC – where she hosts politicians and lobbyists who control her,” the ad says.
