The Senenca Nation of Indians on Tuesday announced it was severing ties with the consulting firm founded by Steve Pigeon, the western New York political operative under investigation.

Seneca Nation President Maurice John said the termination of the contract with Papi Consulting LLC is “effective immediately.”

“The Nation retained the services of Papi LLC in May 2015,” John said in a statement. “Due to the recent circumstances involving the firm’s founding partner, Steve Pigeon, the Nation has decided it is in our best interest to end this brief association.”

Pigeon’s ties go beyond just his consulting firm: The former county Democratic committee chairman has worked on behalf of figures ranging from Gov. Andrew Cuomo to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

Investigators last week searched the home of Pigeon as well as several other operatives in western New York, including that of Steve Casey, a former aide to Brown.
