Debbie Medina, the Democrat running a primary challenge to Sen. Martin Dilan, has been endorsed on Thursday. by a trio of advocacy groups.

Medina, a community organizer, was given the nod for the 18th Senate district nomination by Make The Road Action, New York Communities for Change and Tenants Political Action Committee.

Medina’s endorsements from the groups comes as she seeks to stake out a claim as a pro-tenant candidate.

“Make the Road Action, NYCC, and Tenants PAC are strong working-class organizations with deep roots in the communities of North Brooklyn,” Medina said in a statement.

In a release, the Medina campaign reached back to 1994, when Dilan as a member of the City Council voted for vacancy deregulation.

“It is an honor to work alongside these incredible organizations as we fight to strengthen rent stabilization and rent control, build more truly affordable housing, and ensure that working-class people can afford to stay in Brooklyn.”
