Gov. Andrew Cuomo opened up a blistering line of attack against President Donald Trump for ending the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals, blasting the move as one rooted in racism.

“President Trump is talking about DACA and rescinding DACA, which is just feeding the beast of bigotry red meat,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo, speaking at a retirement ceremony honoring Assemblyman Denny Farrell, compared the threat of racism in the United States to the looming diplomatic crisis with North Korea.

“You want to talk about North Korea as a threat? And it is,” Cuomo said. “I’ll tell you another threat: it’s racism. Because racism is a cancer in the body politic.”

Cuomo in a statement with Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Monday said he would seek to sue the federal government should DACA be phased out. Trump plans to scrap the program in six months’ time unless Congress takes action on the immigration issue.
