A former campaign worker for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has filed to run for the seat held by Sen. Jeff Klein, the leader of the Independent Democratic Conference.

Alessandra Biaggi is a former counsel to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the granddaughter of the late former Rep. Mario Biaggi.

The Daily News reported last year Biaggi had been courted by mainline Democratic lawmakers in the Senate to run for the seat, but that appears to have been before state party leaders and the factions in the Senate agreed to a unity deal.

Democratic officials have insisted the agreement to unify — which includes not providing support to primary challengers to the IDC or mainline conference — continues to hold. That has not dissuaded other candidates to run against IDC incumbents, however.

The deal requires IDC and mainline Democrats to work together to win a battleground Senate district in Westchester County that was vacated Jan. 1 by County Executive George Latimer.

Klein has turned aside primary challenges before, handily defeating a bid against him by former Councilman Oliver Koppell in 2014.
