The top Republican at the Richmond County GOP Committee on Monday endorsed Republican Brian Kolb’s bid for governor.

The chairman, Ron Castorina, is also a state assemblyman from Staten Island and a member of Kolb’s Assembly minority conference.

“I am confident that Brian Kolb is the leader our state needs to fight the tax and spend policies that have crippled and plagued the Empire State,” Castorina said.

“We can count on Kolb to convert the horrendous business climate that ruins New York’s ability to compete, to one that says New York is open for business and open to business! As a leader in the Assembly, Kolb has lead the charge against the exorbitant property taxes that continue to hurt New York families. His leadership will bring us away from the reckless policies that have been wearing away at our state for far too long. I proudly endorse Brian Kolb and encourage others to do so as well.”

Kolb was previously endorsed by county leaders in the Fingers Lake region and Clinton County. He faces fellow Republicans Joel Giambra and John DeFrancisco for the GOP nomination for governor to take on Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat seeking a third term.

“Ron Castorina is a dynamic leader and I’m honored to have his backing in this campaign. With his support and the support of New Yorkers from all corners of our state, we’re going to put an end to Cuomo’s reckless mismanagement of our crucial infrastructure,” Kolb said. “Andrew Cuomo has proven time and again over the last eight years he doesn’t care how he wastes your tax dollars, but now he’s proving that does not care how he wastes your time as well.”
