Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney’s bid for a second term was endorsed Monday by the United Mine Workers of America, the labor group whose local represents workers at gun maker Remington Arms.

“I am honored to be endorsed by United Mine Workers of America. This union represents thousands of hardworking men and women across the country, including employees at Remington Arms in Ilion, New York,” Tenney said. “Remington Arms is a staple in our community and I will continue to stand with their dedicated employees.”

Tenney is running for re-election in what is expected to be a hotly contested race against Democratic Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi. The 22nd congressional district stretches from the Mohawk Valley to the Southern Tier.

She was previously endorsed last month by the UMWA Local 717, which represents employees at Remington Arms. The company has faced significant financial stress in recent months, but remains a key employer in the district.
