From the Morning Memo:

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store is boosting the candidacy of Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, with the labor union’s president Stuart Appelbaum hosting a luncheon next Wednesday for her in New York City.

Abrams, a former minority leader in the Georgia Assembly, would be the first black woman elected governor in U.S. history.

The union, which remains an active and early endorser of New York candidates, backed Abrams last July ahead of her successful primary.

RWDSU has about 10,000 members in Georgia, many of whom are in the food processing industry. Appelbaum has played a role in national Democratic politics, holding the post of co-chair of the DNC’s resolutions committee as well as being a DNC member.

The union also held its convention in Atlanta back in March after successfully organizing workers at Nestle and Ecolabs.
