A source close to AG Andrew Cuomo’s office confirms his investigators, in cooperation with the FBI and IRS, raided Soundview Healthcare Network this morning as part of the ongoing probe into Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr.

The investigators executed a search warrant early this morning, removing items from storage containers behind the government-funded clinic in the Bronx, NBC News reports.

The DN was on the scene and says the agents took boxes marked “payroll” and “timesheets.”

This comes on the heels of yesterday’s bombshell civil suit filed by Cuomo against Espada in which the AG accused the Democratic majority leader of treating Soundview like his “personal piggybank,” looting the nonprofit of more than $14 million worth of charitable funds to pay for everything from lavish trips for himself and his family to $20,000 worth of sushi – some of which was delivered to his Mamaroneck home.

Cuomo warned during a telephone conference with reporters that the probe into Espada’s alleged illegal doings was far from over and said he would not be surprised if criminal charges were lodged against the senator at some point down the road.
