Share Your Thoughts On Indian Point

Manhattan Democratic state senator Liz Krueger has launched a new online survey asking New Yorkers to share their thoughts on the controversial Indian Point power plant, which is up for license renewal in 2013.

Krueger has been a staunch opponent of the power plant for many years now.

“I have been calling for the closure of Indian Point since 2003, but the devastation seen in Japan has served as a powerful reminder that sometimes the worst case scenario does happen, and we cannot go about our lives pretending it never will,” said Senator Krueger.

“I’ve been very clear on where I stand with Indian Point, as have several other elected leaders, including Governor Cuomo, but now it’s time to hear from the public. I want to know where people stand on this issue.”

This argument has been heating up lately, in the wake of what happened in Japan. We reported on SOP yesterday that Indian Point has released a new ad informing New Yorkers that their plants are earthquake proof.

A democratic party candidate MUST consider the Indian Point arguments. WHY? Because organized antinuke groups are larger than the rolls of registered Democrats in many districts, and the cohesiveness of a radical position is unassailable, bigger than the Demo party itself.

Therefore ALL Democrats must entertain the antinuke argument, simply to survive.
Another time, another place to deconstruct the argument.
Ms Kreuger is simply “breaking bad”, Democratically speaking.
Want lights? Then Indian Point stays.

Indian Point should be moved into NYC, which is where all of it’s energy goes anyway. It is time for the upstate counties to stand up and block the new power plants and transmission lines that will be required to fuel NYC’s current and future energy needs.NYC needs to build it’s own power plants within the city. If the Andrew wants to close it ,fine with me. Turn it off tommorow. I always wondered which part of the big Apple they would brown out if Indian Point went down. It has been the politics of the NYC left that has destroyed upstate NY. Time to return the favor.Close Indian Point tommorow.
