Senate Republicans will hold a fundraiser Oct. 18 with the theme of expanding their 33-member majority.

Tickets for the event run as high as $5,000 for the New York City event that’s being held at The Sheraton Hotel.

The invitation takes a dig at Democrats, with one said saying, “Some people might be content with winning one Senate seat next year.” On the reverse side, an army of elephants facing a single donkey is shown. “We aren’t those people.”

Republicans say they are competitive in Senate districts including Westchester and Queens, both seats that are currently held by Democratic lawmakers. Republicans are also confident that Assemblyman George Amedore, who is running in the newly created and GOP-drawn Albany area Senate seat will win, though he faces Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk.

Still, Senate Democrats believe they have a shot at taking the seat held by outgoing Republicans like Jim Alesi in Monroe County and Owen Johnson on Long Island, along with running competitive races against Sens. Greg Ball and Justin Wagner. Mike Amodeo, who is facing off aganist Sen. Mark Grisanti in Buffalo, has reported being nearly $12,000 in the red.
