A subcommittee of the House Ethics panel was established earlier this month to investigate whether Staten Island Rep. Michael Grimm violated any federal laws.

Grimm, a Republican running for re-election this year against Democrat Dominic Recchia, was indicted earlier this month

The lawmaker faces 20 counts of fraud, perjury and obstruction charges tied to his past ownership of a New York City eatery from federal prosecutors.

This isn’t the first time Grimm’s colleagues have launched an investigation into his conduct.

The congressional ethics panel had initially formed a committee to look into charges of campaign-finance violations. That probe was put on hold in 2012.
