It’s never a dull moment for Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

As the governor was traveling to SUNY Binghamton this morning to sign anti-heroin abuse legislation, he came upon a car accident that involved a state police investigator.

Cuomo stopped briefly to check out the scene, telling reporters later that the officer, Investigator Josh Kresge, involved was OK, but a little rattled. According to the State Police, the two-car accident happened on Airport Road in the town of Maine at 8:55 a.m. Police say a driver pulled out in front of the officer who was driving a state-issued vehicle, resulting in the car accident.

“There was an accident that we passed,” Cuomo told reporters following today’s event at SUNY Binghamton. “The accident involved a trooper who had an accident with a private resident. I spoke to the trooper. The trooper was a little shaken up, but the trooper seemed fine. In my conversation, he appeared rattled, but fine.”

Kresge was taken to an area hospital as a precaution and an investigation is continuing.
