Democratic congressional candidate Zephyr Teachout announced on Friday she had raised $530,732 in her bid for the 19th House district in the Hudson Valley.

Teachout’s haul for the single filing period approaches matching what she raised in her run for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2014 against incumbent Andrew Cuomo.

The funds included 13,248 contributions from 10,657 donors. The average check written to the Teachout campaign was $40.06.

In an email to supporters, Teachout touted the strong fundraising period, which she said had a goal of reaching $40,000.

“Together, all your contributions led to a wildly successful first filing quarter,” Teachout said. “You are raising up the voices of people who have been shut out.”

Teachout is competing in a June primary against Democrats Will Yandik and John Patrick Kehoe. The 19th congressional district is being vacated this year by Rep. Chris Gibson, who is gearing up for a run for governor in 2018.
