A former top communications aide to Gov. David Paterson and the 2010 gubernatorial campaign of Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been promoted at AT&T.

Shorenstein, who has for the last five years served as the company’s president at AT&T New York, has been elevated to a senior vice president post.

She will continue overseeing external affairs for the company in New York and will manage state and legislative regulatory issues from Maine to Virginia, including Washington, D.C.

“Marissa has served as an indispensable member of the AT&T team, using her broad knowledge of New York to guide our local legislative work. All the while, she has led our company in supporting important causes,” said David Condit, President – State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, AT&T Services, Inc. “We look forward to seeing Marissa bring that same drive, expertise and passion up and down the East Coast.”

Before joining AT&T, Shorenstein ran a strategic communications and consulting services firm.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to expand the great work that we have done here in New York, from forging strong relationships with our communities to championing social responsibility, all while continuing to offer reliable and award-winning service to our consumers,” Shorenstein said.
