Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights President Kerry Kennedy on Monday urged a yes vote in favor of the constitutional convention.

Kennedy had previously been on the record, of sorts, in favor of the convention referendum, contribution money to a committee backing the vote in favor of it.

The convention vote is held once every 20 years.

“One of our most important responsibilities as citizens is the task of ensuring our government remains representative and equitable,” said Kennedy, the ex-wife of Gov. Andrew Cuomo. “I strongly support a New York Constitutional Convention as the most effective way to accomplish that task.”

In the statement, Kennedy said the convention has the chance of solving a range of “intractable problems” in Albany, including corruption and transparency as well as campaign finance.

“I hope New Yorkers will vote in support of a Constitutional Convention, and that they will remain active in the discussion process to come as we shape a more modern, inclusive and effective New York government for all people,” she said.
