Four county committee chairs and five Republican lawmakers in the state Senate on Monday endorsed Sen. John DeFrancisco’s campaign for the GOP nomination for governor.

DeFrancisco, a Republican lawmaker from Syracuse, received the backing of GOP county chairs from Albany, Lewis and Niagara counties as well as the Conservative Party chairman of Onondaga County.

“I’m proud to endorse John DeFrancisco for Governor. John knows that cutting taxes, spending, and burdensome regulations helps our working class families and small businesses,” said Adam VanDeMark, the Niagara County chairman.

“And he knows that cracking down on crime makes our families and communities stronger, as opposed to progressive attempts to restrict our second amendment rights. Most importantly, John has never backed down when it comes to a fight, which is why we look forward to standing in his corner in 2018.”

Meanwhile, he was also given the nod of more of his GOP colleagues in the state Senate, including Sens. Joseph Griffo, Bill Larkin, Rob Ortt, Mike Ranzenhofer, and Patty Ritchie.

Incumbent Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, is seeking a third term.
