Sen. John DeFrancisco, now the odds-on favorite for the Republican nomination for governor, has received more endorsements from the chairman of GOP county committees, his campaign on Saturday announced.

All told, DeFrancisco’s campaign announced the endorsements of nine county committee leaders, including Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Jefferson, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida and Tioga.

His campaign previously announced the endorsement of DeFrancisco’s home county chairman, Onondaga’s Tom Dadey. He has also been given the endorsements of multiple Republican senators.

“I’m endorsing Senator John DeFrancisco for Governor because he is best candidate for us to compete – and win – this race for Governor. He has a long, strong record of standing up to Governor Cuomo, pushing to hold the line on taxes and fighting to clean up Cuomo’s Albany mess,” said Broome County Republican Chairman Bijoy Data.

“The time for our party to unite behind John DeFrancisco is now. I urge our State’s Republican leaders to join me in standing with Senator DeFrancisco.”

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb on Friday afternoon ended his bid for governor, leaving DeFrancisco and former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra the remaining Republicans in the race for the nomination.

Incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo is seeking a third term this year.
