New York City’s largest public service union on Thursday endorsed Sen. Jose Peralta in his bid for re-election.

“Just as Senator Jose Peralta has stood up for working men and women, we at DC 37 stand behind him in his re-election for New York State Senate. Jose shares our union’s values of economic and social justice, as well as a commitment to improving the lives of all New Yorkers. We look forward to our continued partnership on behalf of DC 37 members and all working New Yorkers,” said Henry Garrido, Executive Director of DC 37.

Peralta, a former member of the now-dissolved Independent Democratic Conference, faces Jessica Ramos in a Democratic primary in September for the Queens district.

“Receiving this endorsement and show of support from more than 125,000 hard-working members of DC 37 is an absolute honor,” Peralta said. “I am privileged to have DC 37, who have made enormous contributions to our city, on my side as I look to ensure that working New Yorkers have the benefits and fair pay to afford a place to live, provide for their families, and save for retirement. I pledge to be the firm advocate they depend upon, and together, we can continue doing great work for this city.”

DC 37’s endorsement comes he’s received a range of labor endorsements, including RWDSU, CWA Local 1180 and the New York State Troopers PBA.
