The once massive campaign war chest of former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has been depleted to nothing.

Skelos’s campaign account now stands a $0.00, after reporting having spent an additional $35,000 in legal fees while he resides in a federal prison in Otisville.

Skelos, the Republican majority leader from 2011 through 2015, was ejected from office after he was found guilty of fraud and bribery. The guilty verdict was overturned in 2017 following a Supreme Court decision that narrowed the definition of honest services fraud. He was convicted upon retrial last year.

His former counterpart, Democratic ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, has reported “no activity” statements for the last several fundraising periods. Silver was convicted in a separate corruption case.
