The re-election campaign of Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin on Friday became the latest to fundraise off the drive by Democrats to open an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

Zeldin in a fundraising email sent Friday afternoon blasted the impeachment push, blaming Speaker Nancy Pelosi for supporting the inquiry before reading the whistle blower report.

The complaint, which Republicans have pointed out is based on second hand information, alleges White House officials sought to hide a rough transcript of a phone conversation with the president of Ukraine and President Donald Trump, in which both men discuss an investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden.

Zeldin’s campaign calls the impeachment effort “just another political stunt by the radical Democrats to divide our country.”

“Lee needs your help to stop the socialist wave and these embarrassingly ridiculous political stunts.”
